Kinky Friedman Returns as Special Guest to South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival

LEAGUE CITY, TX – “Sippin’ on the Dock of the Bay” 
Kinky Friedman, humorist, author, politician, singer - songwriter and former columnist for Rolling Stone and Texas monthly (among others) will visit The 8th Annual South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival and showcase Kinky Friedman Cigars on October 17, 2009.

Highlights of the event will include a showcase of Kinky Friedman Cigars, conversations with Kinky, autographs, pictures, food, drink and much more! "Outrageous and irreverent, but always thought-provoking." Southern Living Magazine called him "the new Mark Twain” and he's also been labeled a modern day “Will Rogers”.   He has been featured on CBS’ 60 Minutes and has been a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

He has written for Rolling Stone, and has been a featured columnist for Texas Monthly magazine. He is the author of 19 unique and outrageous mystery novels such as Greenwich Killing Time and A Case of Lone Star.  They feature a Jewish country singer turned Greenwich Village private eye named Kinky Friedman. He is the also the author of 7 other books, the styles ranging from novel to non fiction travel log. His two latest books, Heroes of a Texas Childhood and Kinky’s Celebrity Pet Files will be available in October 2009.

Friedman was one of two independent candidates in the 2006 election for the office of Governor of Texas, receiving 12.9% (more than 546,000) of the vote; he is considering another furn for Governor in 2010. He also founded Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch, a no kill animal rescue ranch which cares for stray, abuesed and aging animals; more than 1,000 animals have been saved from euthanasia. His entrepreneurial venture started in 2007 is a premium cigar company - Kinky Friedman Cigars.

Kinky Friedman Cigars' original premium line, The Governor, Kinkycristo, Texas Jewboy, Utopian, and The Willie feature a beautiful Habano wrapper grown in Honduras from Cuban seed with a medium-bodied filler of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos and Costa Rican binder. Connecticut Shade wrapper.

South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival Returns for 8th Annual Event

League City, TX - "Sippin' on the Dock of the Bay"
The only event of its kind on the Texas gulf coast features a first class atmosphere. On Saturday, October 17th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. wine novices and experts alike enjoy four themed pavilions presenting wines from all over the globe. For those who prefer something different, the Festival offers Here's the Beer & Spirits Pavilion.

Ongoing live entertainment sets the mood for a spectacular celebration. Guests are treated to distinctive cuisine from popular local eateries, culinary demonstrations, high end artists and exhibitors plus automobile and boat displays.

Just 20 minutes south of downtown Houston, the Festival is held in the Bay Area Houston region located midway between Houston and Galveston at the prestigious South Shore Harbour Resort & Conference Center Marina in League City.

The South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival is produced by C4 Clear Creek Community Charities, Inc a non-profit group which provides financial support to local projects. 2009 charity partners are Autism Speaks, Communities in Schools and Bay Area Pet Adoption.
